::ESTO PERPETUA::

Guess where we're headed this weekend?...Yep, home to Boise. We're sooo excited to be in Idaho for a couple of days! Here are some fun facts from us as we leave this weekend...

~POPULATION: about 250,000 at last count (over 5 years ago)
~ELEVATION: approx. 2,842 ft.
~The state's capitol is geothermally heated from underground hot springs.
~The weirdest sight downtown...that nobody seems quite to understand other than that it's the river going up the side of a building...odd...

Of course we can't leave out...SMURF TURF!!!

~But seriously, who else has a potato...complete with butter melting and steam on their license plate?

~The Great Seal of Idaho was designed in 1890 by Mrs. Emma Edwards Green, the ONLY state seal of all 50 states to be designed by a woman!

~The deepest river gorge in North America is Hells Canyon. (which is deeper than the Grand Canyon)

~Idaho grows billions of potatoes-enough to feed each American 120 spuds a year!

~In 1989 legislature designated the Square Dance as the American Folk Dance of Idaho.

~The world's first nuclear power plant is located near Arco.

~In Idaho, it is against the law for anyone over the age of 88 to ride a motorcycle.

~In Idaho law forbids a citizen to give another citizen a box of candy that weighs more than 50 pounds.

AND HERE WE HAVE IDAHO!...Esto Perpetua (the state motto that means: it is forever)

I hope everyone has a great weekend! We'll take lots of pictures so that we're sure to have plenty to blog when we get back!

How in the world did you know all that?!!

Made me homesick for Idaho. I'll be reading this often just to get my Idaho fix!

Have a great time and a safe trip. I'll be looking forward to hearing about it and seeing your pics. Are you going to see your newest little niece? Does she live there?
